La Maison
Imagine a place where every day feels like a step towards a more fulfilled, balanced life. That’s what we’re creating here. Coliving is more than just a place to stay. It’s not a hotel or an Airbnb, it’s a vibrant community rooted in wellness and connection. Picture this: waking up in a picturesque French setting, your neighbors are not just people who share the roof, but friends who share your passion for a mindful, enriching life. Every corner is designed for comfort, creativity, and community. It’s not just about living together; it’s about growing together, learning from each other, and experiencing life in a more connected, meaningful way.
Why Us? Why This Place? Why Now?
Choosing where to live is a big decision, and we get it. We’ve lived it. Over the past few years we have experimented with many so-called “non-traditional” lifestyles in an attempt at both more enrichment, but also more freedom. From Vanlife to Hostel-Hopping and eventually to Coliving, we’ve tried a few things until we found our own personal sweet spot. With vanlife we had the freedom to explore, but found it a bit lonely at times (and parking is either expensive, frightening, or verging on illegal) and the wifi was usually pretty impossible to come by, and hostel hopping had the community we found ourselves craving, but lacked options for personal space and privacy.
Here’s why our space stands out:
- Community at Its Heart: We are not reinventing the wheel here. Many of the friends we’ve made along the way operate incredible Coliving experiences (see the resources section below), and we seek to learn from them and to contribute to the amazing community that they’ve built. As a part of the coliving community ourselves, making a profit comes second to building a space where the community itself thrives. We want to build a space where strong, lasting bonds are formed over things like morning yoga, shared meals, and impromptu brainstorming sessions.
- More Than Just a Room: It’s a lifestyle choice that brings together diverse individuals who believe in living sustainably, sharing joyfully, and growing personally. This is why we have spaces for just about every activity you can imagine. Some crafted for creative expression, others for pure uninterrupted focus.
- Flexibility and Freedom: With us, you get the freedom to be yourself, with the flexibility to join in community activities, workshops, or just enjoy your own space.
- An Open Canvas for Events: While we don’t often run retreats ourselves, our doors are wide open for wellness enthusiasts, yoga teachers, and creatives to host their own retreats and workshops in a setting that inspires (while keeping the sanctity of your personal space at the core of our principles).
How does “Coliving” fit with “Wellness”?
We believe Kyle described it best:
In short, Coliving saved my life. When I embarked on my first coliving adventure I had just experienced my first panic attack and was unaware that I was at the forefront of a deep bout of depression. I was lucky in my experience that while I felt hopeless at times, I never felt short of a person to call or a shoulder to cry on. That’s what the community gave to me. This community also introduced me to the magic of wellness retreats, and how in that space, and with so many people experiencing similar things, I was able to not only heal but to teach through my experiences.
Coliving is about:
- Building a Supportive Network: It’s easier to stick to goals (wellness, work, or other) when you’re surrounded by people who cheer for you. Learning from those who came before us, we also see the impact this network has on just about anything. By having a group of people you can reach out to when you’re in need of a job, a temporary apartment, or someone to test your new app, the community we build together matters.
- Sharing and Learning: From cooking healthy meals together to sharing life hacks and tips, every day is a chance to learn something new.
- Mental Health Matters: In our community, mental wellness is a priority. We understand the power of a good conversation, a shared laugh, or a quiet moment together (and apart when needed).
- Sustainable Living Made Easy: Sharing resources isn’t just good for the planet; it’s great for building a sense of shared responsibility and care.
